Thoughts of 2010 Fantasy Football

Mohamed Massaquoi sneaks into out Top 60 rankings.  Jake Delhomme's presence certainly could help.  For more of my thoughts on him, clickhere .

Andre Johnson is a first round pick, but how high should he go?  Click here to see my thoughts.

I previously spoke about the moves that sent Anquan Boldin jerseys to Baltimore (click here to view) and Brandon Marshall to Baltimore (click here to view), so check those articles put for more on their respective rankings.

Will Brett Favre play or won't he?  At this point, with the drama raging on, I have to assume that he will, but who knows. If he doesn't, the value of the Vikings receivers will fall slightly.

Donald Driver is coming off surgery on both knees, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see the new Packers jerseys rest him a bit.  Youngsters like Jordy Nelson and James Jones could challenge for playing time, so taking Driver as a WR4 instead of a starter certainly makes the most sense.

How valuable could Malcolm Floyd be, especially if Vincent Jackson doesn't play?  Click here   for my thoughts.

Word is that Wes Welker will be healthy for Week 1. Obviously there are going to be injury concerns, making him a risk, but what a reward he could bring. I'd certainly back him up with a good reserve, but he's a player to target if he is on the board in the seventh round. He may not match last year's 123 receptions, but he's going to be a great option if fully healthy.

The number one wide receiver on the team with the best quaterback…Yea, Greg Jennings deserves a spot as a WR1 on any fantasy roster. The comparison between Jennings and Marques Colston is an interesting one, though, and something we'll look at in the future.

Steve Breaston has the potential to have a solid season, stepping into the #2 receiver spot in Arizona. Heck, he's had big seasons as the team's third receiver, but concerns about Matt Leinart have to downgrade him a bit.  He just doesn't have the ability to make a play on his own like Larry Fitzgerald jerseys does.

I'll go into more details soon on why I'm so high on Dwayne Bowe, but if healthy he has the potential to finally bust out in his fourth season.

With Terrell Owens signing with the Bengals jerseys, you have to wonder if there will be enough balls to make everyone happy, certainly hurting some of the other Bengals receivers value. He has a much better quarterback throwing him the ball then he did in Buffalo, so a return to 1,000 yards is certainly possible. He's likely a borderline WR2, but definitely a great pick as a WR3.  His presence sends Antonio Bryant to more of a reserve role then a fantasy starter.

I previously named a few third-year wide receivers who have the chance to breakout this season (click here to view). After Pierre Garcon (who probably isn't a sleeper), Davone Bess is the player I'd most like to own. With Brandon Marshall and a solid running game in place, defenses will have a tough time covering everyone.

Will Vincent Jackson holdout for the season?  That would just make a bad situation worse, as he's already set to miss the first three games of the season due to a suspension. Is he worth the risk? Absolutely, because if he plays he has the potential to be a Top 15 reciever.  However, the risk right now outweighs the reward, making him better suited to be drafted as a WR3.

I recently discussed why I had Larry Fitzgerald as the #2 wide reciever on my board, which you can read by clicking here .

NFL Betting - AFC West Division

San Diego Chargers -150

Denver Broncos +350

Kansas City Chiefs +350

Oakland Raiders jerseys +1000

If Denver has done anything under the tutelage of Josh McDaniels, it is making headlines, with sideline spats and the trading of their best player.

They out-did themselves by picking Tim Tebow 25th overall in the NFL Wagering Draft. They now have Kyle Orton, Brady Quinn and now Tebow in the quarterback position.

The Chiefs are amidst a rebuilding period and have showed little promise over the last three seasons, despite acquiring former Patriot Matt Cassel jersey and possessing a top tier receiver in Dwayne Bowe.

There's not much on the table to expect a big turnaround in 2010.

Oakland continues to out-do itself in futility in the league, releasing former #1 overall draft pick Jamarcus Russell this off-season, and even sending out a press release about their first round pick from 2008 – Darrius Heyward-Bey – stating his spectacular abilities as a receiver so far in off season training, despite having only nine receptions for 124 yards in his rookie season.

It just keeps getting crazier in Oak-town.

So who to bet on in the AFC West this year? Here's a look:

San Diego Chargers -150

Once again the Chargers emerge as early pre-training camp Super Bowl contenders, with bucket-loads of talent at every position and no excuse not to advance deep into the playoffs.

This is their division, and no team has made enough moves to contend for the title.

Denver Broncos +350

Releasing Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall and then drafting Tim Tebow jerseys almost 3 rounds before he should have been picked has put tremendous pressure on young head coach Josh McDaniels and this Broncos team.

The honeymoon from last season ended in week seven after the Broncos racked off six in a row to start the season under their rookie head coach.

Ending the season with losses to division rivals Kansas City and the hated Raiders has left a bad taste in the mouth of Denver fans this whole offseason.

They've made some moves, but the fate of this team is still up in the air.

Kansas City Chiefs +350

When Scott Pioli left the Patriots to take over the GM spot in Kansas City, he brought as much of the Patriots as he could with him, scooping up QB Matt Cassel and linebacker Mike Vrabel.

Unfortunately the winning tradition in New England didn't come along with them, as the new Chiefs jerseys completed their second four-win season in three years, and have only accumulated 10 wins in the last three seasons combined.

Reasons the Rams Need Terrell Owens

The St. Louis Rams are reportedly nearing a deal with Terrell Owens for the upcomingnew NFL jerseys season. Sporting a receiving core of Donnie Avery, Laurent Robinson, and rookie Mardy Gilyard, the Rams could use a legit touchdown threat like Owens.

Sure, at age 36 Owens has lost a step or two over the last few seasons, but he's still a scoring threat wherever he goes.

True, his production did drop off a bit recently— dropping from 81 catches to 69 to 55 in 2007, 2008, 2009, respectively—but his touchdown numbers haven't really showed any signs of dropping.

I'd argue his 2009 season, a five-touchdown year in Buffalo, could be moreso attributed to the quality of quarterback he played with.

In other words, Brian Brohm, Trent Edwards, and Ryan Fitzpatrick aren't Tony Romo jersey.

So, now that Owens has left Buffalo for greener pastures, where should he go?

Reportedly, the teams that have serious interest in him are the Cincinnati Bengals jerseys and the St. Louis Rams. Neither team is a real threat in its respective conference to make a stop in Dallas in February, but for Owens, a paycheck is a paycheck.

I'm going to assume Marvin Lewis doesn't want another "character" in his locker room which already has Chad Ochocinco.

Here's why if Drew Rosenhaus and Terrell Owens come calling, the St. Louis Rams need to sit and listen.

Say what you will about Terrell Owens as a player and person, but he draws attention—and a crowd—wherever he goes.

Whether he's doing crunches in his driveway for a camera crew or eating popcorn in a cameraman's face in Dallas, TO knows how to get a show going.

To help St. Louis Rams fans "get their popcorn ready,, what better way to bring fans to the stands than to sign a high profile, high visibility, and highly marketable athlete like Owens to the team?

The old saying goes, "It's a lot happier on top".

The same could be said for the cheerleaders in the NFL.

When the team you're cheering on, stinks,it's gotta be a tough gig.

Example.

"YAYY GO RAIDERRRRS!!!"

What's she really thinking?

"Oh god, I can see JaMarcus Russel's lovehandles from here..."

True with the Rams as well.

Hard to start a cheer for an offensive drive, if there's no offense besides Steven Jackson.

Lets hope the Rams sign Terrell Owens jersey, if for no one else, the cheerleaders. At least they'd have a reason to cheer about ten times a season then.

will he Redskins be the chance To Win Super Bowl XLV ?

But I doubt it. Too bad we'd have to play in new Cowboys jerseys Stadium if it happened. Speaking of bittersweet…

I may be eating my words as early as week one in New York, sporting my Portis jersey with a huge grin in week two against the Rams, then back to slitting my wrists by the time week 11 rolls around.

This is the year folks. This is our time as Redskins fans. The painful wait is over. No more preseason jitters torn apart by the outcomes of the resulting season. No more crazy, over priced acquisitions that never pan out the way they were meant to. No more losing.

For me, it is just as high every year. I believe in playoff wins again. Heck, I believe in a record better than 4-12 again. The upcoming schedule looks easy enough, so I believe a 10-6 outcome is very reasonable. With the team interacting in special sessions like McNabb's "Hell Week" out in Arizona. With everyone showing up to voluntary training camp… eventually *cough* Haynesworth *cough*. With a division that looks weaker than years past. Even with rumors of a T.O., McNabb reunion. (They just happen to be playing together on Joes vs. Pros tonight)

So, here we are again. The same place as every summer before a highly anticipated Dan Snyder's Redskin's season. Hopes are a lot less high this time around even with the new additions, but high nonetheless.

Jim Zorn couldn't fix things. Albert Haynesworth couldn't fix things, even if he cared to. And Derrick Dockery sure as hell couldn't fix things. But in true Dan Snyder fashion the team pushed on. Paying more to pick up bigger and better names to fill seats and win games, neither of which he is doing well up to date. So, the Skins dropped the great Jon Jansen and key role player James Thrash, added Brian Orakpo and DeAngelo Hall (still one of my favorites, mostly because his special teams skill on Madden '08 were REEdiculous). Now they've drafted Trent "Silverback" Williams (I personally think Russell Okung from Oklahoma State would have been a far more fitting draft pick), picked up Larry Johnson, Willie Parker and DONOVAN MCNABB!!, and hired Mike Shanahan. Awesome. Except they also released Fred Smoot, Antwaan Randle El and Jason Campbell.

It was all a very crazy roller coaster ride that I stuck with. Then Sean Taylor got shot. Yes, the world had briefly ceased to rotate. My favorite defensive player since Champ Bailey (As a Miami Hurricane, I cannot like Deion Sanders) had been shot in his own home. Then almost immediately, as it had for any new Redskins jerseys fan, my mind went to how screwed the Skins were, AGAIN!

Shawn Springs, Sean Taylor, and Marcus Washington were some of the first to make a splash. Then came Carlos Rogers, Bruce Smith, Laveranues Coles and Deion Sanders. Followed by Cornelious Griffin and Santana Moss. Also, somewhere in the mix the Redskins signed Brandon Lloyd, Antwaan Randle El, Adam Archuleta and Andre Carter . All to overpriced contracts. My personal favorite and, in my opinion, the most blogged about pick up was the trade of the beloved Champ Bailey for the all-star running back, Clinton Portis. A truly bitter sweet moment in Redskins history. We picked up new names such as Devin Thomas and LaRon Landry.

When you thought, as a Redskins jerseys fan, that things couldn't get any worse, there was the answer. Joe Gibbs. He'd already done it. Already been to the top. More than once! How could we fail now. Every year from 2004 to 2007 looked ten times more promising than the last.

First, it was Norv Turner and the acquisition of LaVar Arrington and Chris Samuels in the 2000 draft. The year after that the pre-season was filled with hope from Marty Schottenheimer. Then the next two horrible years that were supposed to be redemptive with one of the greatest college coaches of our time, Steve Spurrier, and led behind the Stephen Davis offense.

This will be, again, another year for me where I have strongly felt that the Washington Redskins will not only lead the NFC East (by far the toughest division in the NFL), but make it through at least two rounds of the playoffs.

Ok, so my title might be a bit overzealous and kind of misleading. The Redskins might not win the Super Bowl jerseys, but I've decided to come out of the gates sprinting with my first article. Sprinting, like the way little kids are when they don't understand you have to pace yourself during a footrace. I figure I'll start with a grand slam or over hype it just to completely of the mark like every past season with the Redskins under owner Dan Snyder.

This needs to happen to win big and Where Vikings stack up

Most importantly, Favre needs to return. If Favre jerseysurprises everyone and decides to retire, the Vikings could go from being one of the favorites in the NFC to being a middle of the pack team.

Tarvaris Jackson almost certainly would be the starter if Favre retires, and he has yet to prove he can be consistent in that role since being selected in the second round of the 2006 draft.
Rice, who is still recovering from a hip injury suffered in the playoffs, is going to need to repeat his outstanding performance of 2009 andnew Harvin jersey is going to have to remain a versatile threat. Harvin also was a standout as a kick returner (27.5-yard average and two touchdowns) and was elected to the Pro Bowl for his contributions in that area.

Harvin, though, battled migraine headaches for much of his rookie season and even missed a game because of the problem. Harvin went to the highly respected Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., last winter and came away with a plan that he and the team hopes can help manage the problem.

The Vikings jerseys are going to need improved play from safeties Tyrell Johnson and Madieu Williams, who combined for one interception last season. The Vikings' play a Tampa-2 scheme which frequently means the safeties aren't in position to pick off passes.

However, Johnson and Williams lack of aggressiveness at times was probably the most concerning factor about their play. Jamarca Sanford, a seventh-round pick in 2009, could challenge either Johnson or Williams for a starting job.

Where they stack up:
The Vikings will be looking to win a third consecutive NFC North title but it's not going to be easy. Minnesota's schedule is more difficult this season than it was in 2009 and the Green Bay Packers look as if they could give the Vikings a real run for the division crown. The Vikings swept Favre's former team last year but that's going to be hard to do with Aaron Rodgers being a year better.

The Chicago Bears also should be improved. The Bears and Vikings split last season with Chicago winning in overtime in the  second-to-last game of the season. In his second season with the Bears, Jay Cutler should be that much more comfortable at quarterback. Nonetheless, if Favre is running the show in Minnesota, the Vikings will be expected to make another run at the Super Bowl.

Rating:who is the WRs?

New England Patriots: If Wes Welker(notes) was healthy, this group would rank higher. Adding Torry Holt helps, although we'll see how he gets along with new Randy Moss jersey(notes).

Detroit Lions: Like Philadelphia and Dallas, there's potential for great improvement here if Calvin Johnson(notes) continues to develop and TE Brandon Pettigrew(notes) comes back healthy.

Cincinnati Bengals: With Bryant and Gresham around, Chad Ochocinco jersey(notes) might be back to celebrating on a more regular basis.

Baltimore Ravens: No overwhelming stars, but great depth and balance. Anquan Boldin and Derrick Mason(notes) are as tough as they come at receiver.

San Francisco 49ers: TE Vernon Davis(notes) is finally developing into a serious star and Michael Crabtree(notes) isn't far behind after a quietly impressive rookie season.

New York Jets jerseys: If Braylon Edwards(notes) returns to Pro Bowl form and Santonio Holmes(notes) can get his head straight, this group could be awesome by December. If so, the Jets will be a serious contender.

New York Giants: They were better than expected last season, but that doesn't mean they're great. A lot of nice players, but nobody a defense has to worry about.

Pittsburgh Steelers: The loss of the aforementioned Santonio Holmes is a brutal blow, although Mike Wallace(notes) showed promise last season. Hines Ward(notes) brings stability, but not much more at this point.

Miami Dolphins: The new Dolphins jerseys finally landed a No. 1 receiver in Brandon Marshall(notes) after years of not having one. The question is whether Marshall will be enough.

The NFL’s weakening strongside

Tennessee: The new Titans jerseysand Jaguars should trade their linebacking groups, because they are virtually the same. Tennessee's Steve Tulloch may be a notch below Jacksonville's Kirk Morrison in the middle, but the Titans make up that notch with Will Witherspoon(notes)  being a slightly better outside linebacker than either of the guys the Jags have. David Thornton(notes)  is a typical plugger, and the depth is mediocre.

New York Giants: The disintegration of Antonio Pierce(notes) was both sad and fascinating to watch last year. After helping the Giants to a Super Bowl title in the 2007 season, Pierce was still solid in 2008. But by 2009, his series of injuries caught up to him and forced him to retire. Now, the Giants must not only rebuild, but replace the most focused, dutiful leader the team had. Ouch. Outside linebacker Michael Boley(notes) was pretty good last year when he was healthy, but the rest of the group is a collective question mark with the likes of Clint Sintim(notes), Jonathan Goff(notes) and Chase Blackburn(notes).

Arizona: On paper, the Cardinals jerseyslinebacking corps is really, really … old. Between Joey Porter, Clark Haggans(notes), Gerald Hayes(notes) and Paris Lenon(notes), the average age of the four starters (if the Cardinals go 3-4 as planned) is 31. The Cardinals are hoping that youngsters Cody Brown(notes) and Will Davis(notes) will develop fast and help make up for the loss of Karlos Dansby. But this group looks to be, at best, mediocre.

St. Louis: Middle linebacker James Laurinaitis(notes) has potential to be an excellent player, perhaps along the lines of a Zach Thomas. However, middle linebackers really don't matter the way they did 10 years ago. Unless you're Patrick Willis, a healthy Brian Urlacher jersey or Ray Lewis in his prime, middle linebackers are glorified replaceable parts – not the guys you build your defense around. That's the cold reality. The rest of the Rams' linebackers, starting with young guy David Vobora(notes), old guy Na'il Diggs(notes) and retread Bobby Carpenter(notes), are lacking. The defensive line is going to have to do a lot of work to make these guys look good.
